While you may be on Facebook, sticking to one social network isn’t really akin to letting your social wings spread. Facebook is an excellent social media platform for small and medium sized business owners that want to spend on promoted posts and ads, that’s true, but there is another oft untapped resource in Instagram. Instagram, with 130,000,000 active Instagram users signing in each month, and 1,000,000,000 photos liked each and every day, Instagram is a social network that deserves a bit of your attention (even if you are not a lifestyle brand per se!)
For those who are familiar with Instagram, it may seem like it’s simply a platform great for sharing your vacation photos or short videaos, or keeping up with what your friends are doing, but Instagram can work exceptionally well in marketing businesses as well. With short and sweet posts, and the ability that a picture has to say a thousand words, you can communicate your business quite effectively on Instagram while still engaging your audiences and getting the word out successfully. Instagram can be a great platform for all brands and businesses. A few tips on using Instagram for your business marketing are:
- Connect it to your Facebook page – If you’re already on Facebook, Instagram makes connecting your Instagram profile to your Facebook profile easy. When you do this, all of your Instagram posts will show up automatically on your Facebook account simultaneously, so you can reach double the audience in half the time.
- Get to know hashtags – Whether you’re just making a post, or running your own photo contest, it’s all about the hashtags on Instagram. Hashtags act as searchable keywords that link interested users to your brand, so it’s never a bad idea to mix in some common hashtag keywords with brand specific ones as well. If you do happen to host an Instagram contest for your brand, make sure to assign a hashtag to entries, as this will place all entries in one place and allow your contest to be easier to find!
- Engage with you followers – Nothing makes your followers feel appreciated like a little nod here and there, and liking a few of their photos or tagging them and engaging them directly does the trick quite well. Engagement is one of the biggest plus sides to using social media in your business, and Instagram makes it easy.
We love the fun that can be had using Instagram in your marketing, and we feel that this is one excellent way to branch out further into social media.
